What you get The average price of a supermarket meal or a package of groceries varies from store to store, so we’ve gathered the prices listed here from the National Grocery Manufacturers Association.

If you’re in a grocery store in the Midwest, look for the cheapest prices.

For example, if you’re buying one meal for $2.49, you’ll pay $2 per package.

If that same meal is $3.49 at your store in Florida, you can save $3 per package by shopping at Target or Walmart.

If, on the other hand, you’re looking for the most economical prices, look at the price you pay for the same food in a package.

For instance, if the price is $2 for one meal, you pay $1.95 for the meal.

If it’s $3 for one bag, you save $1 per bag.
